San Juan and Gulf Islands Archipelago - Charters to Desolation Island, Princess Louisa Inlet, Vancouver Island

Visit the Beautiful San Juan islands!

horizontal rule

Map of the San Juan Islands near Bellhigham / Seattle WA / Vancouver BC from San Juan Motor YachtingSome 450 islands dot the San Juan and Gulf Islands archipelago. Hundreds more lead north to Desolation Sound and Princess Louisa Inlet. First discovered by Europeans in 1790, the islands have become a yachtsman’s paradise.

The islands are shielded from ocean storms by 300-mile-long Vancouver Island. And they lie in the rain shadow of Washington's Olympic mountains. The result is sunny, protected, line-of-sight cruising among picturesque islands.

Whether harvesting fresh seafood, anchoring in a secluded cove, exploring one of the many state park islands or dining at a fine resort, our Islands truly offer something for everyone.

Cruising the Islands has become, for some, a way of life. Even for those who spend but a short vacation here, the memories of each day invite one back to the beauty of the Islands and the hospitality of its people.

 Bellingham
Passport to the Northwest’s enchanting waterways

Bellingham is the closest to the "Northwest Route", through the San Juan’s preferred by experienced boaters. It gives them more secluded coves and less crowded anchorage. It is the closest to the Canadian Gulf Islands. Equally as beautiful, but less traveled. It is closest to enchanting Desolation Sound and Princess Louisa Inlet.

Bellingham Bay unlike other local charter bases – has no obstructions, no maze of channels through tide flats, any big tankers and ferries to avoid. Just the famed reliable Bellingham Bay breeze that makes Bellingham the ideal host for major regattas. A delightful, easy way to begin your charter.

Nestled at the foot of the majestic Cascade Mountains, Bellingham provides one of the newest and most complete chartering services in the region. Bellingham is easily accessible by land and air. You can drive Interstate 5 from Seattle (90 miles) or Vancouver, BC (60 miles) or catch one of the numerous connecting flights into Bellingham where your boat is waiting just ten minutes away.
