SEAMANSHIP CERTIFICATION (3-DAY COURSE) This course provides the novice with the essential skills needed to skipper a large motoryacht. Your course begins at 9am Saturday. The entire day will be onboard, giving an introduction to navigation, anchoring, maneuvering, and ship systems. San Juan Yachting will provide a lunch to enjoy onboard. After maneuvers, you will take a brief cruise on Bellingham Bay before docking for the evening at the marina. The Squalicum Harbor Marina provides you with several fine restaurant choices for your evening dining. You are welcome to sleep aboard for no charge or take a room at a hotel if you prefer. The second day begins at 9am, after breakfast. We will plot the day's course then practice docking before heading out to run our plotted course. Your patient, knowledgeable instructor will cover essential boating skills and answer any questions you may have regarding cruising. Toward the end of the afternoon, we'll anchor in one of the idyllic coves in the San Juan Islands, barbeque a Pacific Northwest salmon dinner on the boat, and spend the night aboard. San Juan Yachting will host both lunch and dinner. The third day includes a review of ship systems, additional navigation and maneuvering practice. We will return to the harbor and disembark about 5pm. Breakfast and lunch are courtesy of San Juan Yachting These three days are a perfect combination of intense learning and fun - a fabulous introduction to cruising northwest style! Tuition: $575/person based on double occupancy for yachts under 44'. $725/person based on double occupancy for yachts 45' and larger. Limited to four students. Yacht and fuel included.
Hello! This
is just a note to let you know that we really enjoyed the weekend on the Tide runner with
Doolie. What a great guy! He was so knowledgeable and patient! He was a wonderful
instructor. We both learned a lot and enjoyed his company very much.
